This beautiful video was made by Miika Kuisma (Soundcloud page) utilizing geometries made by me, shortly after first version of GeoKone was released. The music is by Above & Beyond, so we didn’t release it back then, but now I feel that any content that can quiet and relax you for a while is worth releasing! Everything is a remix after all!

I have watched this video many times, with tears going down my eyes, and I dont even really understand why, the music has a lot to do of course, but Miika has the skill to create emotions in the viewer with little subleties. May this bring harmony and joy to you, and inspire to create also!

Video :: Dive Into Recursive Geometry!

Here is my presentation from Assembly 2014, talking about Natural Geometry and the effects creating it can have on our level of awareness, and introducing our upcoming Virtual Reality Experience, Geometrify.

Big thanks to Olli Sinerma for arranging this VR -track and all the other speakers, Paavo S Ho, Kaomas Turmakallio and Samuli Jääskeläinen, really enjoyed all of your sets. Be sure to check out their presentations on the same Youtube channel if you are interested in Virtual Reality and where it has been coming from and what is happening right now.

About 15-20 people tried our Geometrify tech-demo, some of the comments included “pure joy”, “being in a flow state”, “damn nice” and many others. Thank you for everyone testing it out and giving feedback!

PS. We’re looking to hire a graphics programmer here in Helsinki to continue work on Geometrify. Please contact us if you are interested! :)

Amazing Creations by GeoKone.NET Users

At this point I want to share some great GeoKone.NET based creations that users of GeoKone have been sharing with us at our Facebook page.

I wouldn’t have ever thought somebody would make something like this with GeoKone.NET, and it’s great for me as a developer to see that people can express themselves through the software, there is enough variables that you can play around to express certain characteristics of yourself that seem somehow personal.

This is great, I hope to see many more in the future, and hope to implement Loading & Sharing of scenes as soon as possible! :)

Here’s the images, the first ones are by Cody Fuqua:

Love the synchronicity here. And seeing the big picture.

Reminds me of Tibetan Mandalas and their energies. Great use of color.

Here are couple from Dubious Hairrus:

This seems to capture the essence of the pentagon based geometry. Kinda wily also, like it is alive.

I will update more scenes soon, this is for now :) These were all created with GeoKone.NET, an interactive geometry generator that runs in your browser!

Check it out at http://GeoKone.NET !

Big Thank you for all the users who have shared their creations on our Facebook Page, please Post your Favorite Creations on the Timeline Now :)

Keep on creating and sharing! These somehow possess Healing Energies!

GeoKone.NET Gets Animation Support :: 0.93.30 Released

New version of http://GeoKone.NET is online! Now comes with Animation! ^_^
If you want to see straight away some examples live in GeoKone, load these files into GeoKone via “Scene/Load Local File”:

Hit the Animate button with these and they will start to animate, and you can modify the contents realtime of course.

Animation & Tracing!

Animation & Tracing!

Release Notes

  • Animation support! Support for rotating and scaling the formations based on adjustable parameters. Very cool :) Supports tracing also. No support for exporting animated scenes as images yet, though.
  • Use keyboard commands ‘0’ (Zero) to toggle animation, ‘9’ to toggle rotation, ‘8’ to toggle scaling.
  • Changed checkbox appearance to switches
  • Keyboard command ‘Del/Backspace’ now used to delete formations
  • Page Up/Page Down now select active formation also
  • Print Screen shows Export Image dialog
  • Tighten the UI layout a bit
  • Fixed the Randomizer and added better color presets

Realtime Animation

Animation support! Glad to announce that GeoKone.NET now supports animating the formations in real time. Each formation can be Rotated & Scaled in real time, with parameters for controlling the scaling and rotation. You can use keyboard command ‘0’ to toggle the animation, and commands ‘8’ for toggling Scaling and ‘9’ for Rotation.

Using the Tracing Feature

Using the Tracing Feature

With animation you can also trace the movement, leave trails of the moving formations, while animating, which can lead you to some very pretty images! No support for saving these traced images yet (except of course taking a screen shot).

Creating Vortexes

Creating Vortexes. Change the Line Color while Tracing :)

Also due to couple of users telling me about this, the keyboard command for Delete has been moved to ‘Backspace/Del’. Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully having Undo some day too :D

Video :: Arrival of New Information on our Planet in form of Sacred Geometry

This was our entry to Assembly Summer 2013, a big computer user & demoscene  gathering held here in Finland every year, in the Short Film Compo.

It is a symbolic story about how new information is being downloaded here on our Planet .. Represented in Sacred Geometry created with http://GeoKone.NET, edited and transformed with Final Cut Pro X. Music by Hystereo Psychovsky, all graphics & editing by Yours Truly.

Enjoy! Watch in HD, Fullscreen & with some good speakers or headphones! ^_^

GeoKone.NET 0.98.13 Released :: Save PNG Images with Transparent Background

New version of http://GeoKone.NET is out today!

GeoKone.NET :: Create Sacred Geometry!

GeoKone.NET :: Create Sacred Geometry!

Release Notes

I’ve released a couple of maintenance releases after 0.98.10 was announced, here are the changes:

  • Saving of PNG images with Transparent Backgrounds. Finally! :)
  • Fixed Scene Saving Overwrite check to work
  •  Only activate touch input mode when clicking on the canvas area, not on the borders. Preventing
accidental modifying of the formations hopefully.
  • Removed the layer container numbers, not really bringing any new information and probably slowed down drawing
  • Show spinning cursor when loading & saving scenes, big scene saving & loading can take a while, show some feedback
  • Improve and fix the Randomize feature to generate formations with more parameter changes
  • Minor optimizations

Saving PNG Images with Transparent Background

GeoKone.NET finally supports saving PNG images with transparent background, saving the alpha information correctly. This means you no longer have to manually cut out the transparent areas or figure out different blending options to make compositing images good in Photoshop for example. GeoKone can now draw high quality, high resolution, beautiful antialiased formations with alpha transparency!

The image above was made with with the new version. This is a really welcome addition suggested by many users, makes transferring art from GeoKone to other programs much more easier and better looking.

To Save Images with Transparent Background, Choose the ‘Transparent Background’ option in the Save Image dialog, and make sure you Save the Image to your disk from the browser.

At least with Firefox just copying the image doesn’t preserve the transparency correctly for some reason, I have to save the image to my disk first and then continue editing from there.
